The University Glee Club will be presenting their 2013 Winter Concert Feliz Navidad on December 8th at 4:00 p.m., at Bethesda Lutheran Church, 450 Whitney Ave. New Haven.
The program will feature a selection of classical pieces such as John Peel's English Hunting Song (19th c.), John Dowland's Say Love (16th c.) and Richard Wagner's Pilgrims' Chorus from the opera Tannhaüser.
The program will also include spirituals and carols such as This Little Light of Mine (arr. J. Leavitt), Go Tell It On The Mountain (arr. J. Work), and What Child is This (arr. F. Heath), along with modern works such as Irving Berlin's White Christmas and José Feliciano's Feliz Navidad.
Admission is $15.00.
Our year consists of Fall and Spring semesters, each with 10–12 rehearsals followed by a concert. We meet each Monday from 7:15–9:30 P.M. at the beautiful and spacious Bethesda Lutheran Church, 305 Saint Ronan Street, New Haven.
After the rehearsals, many members adjourn to a local restaurant where they enjoy food, refreshments and round-the-table group singing!
The two major annual concerts are a winter holiday version in December and a Spring Concert. Both are held in New Haven, often at Yale's Battell Chapel or other venue that can accommodate our audience and has outstanding acoustics.
There are typically a few other short performances at different locations where the group is invited to sing.
